Schuyler Rogers

Hello

Thanks for taking a look at my portfolio and I hope you find that it showcases my ever-growing passion for design of all kinds.

A little bit about myself

I am originally from the Seattle area and lived there for my childhood and early adult years. After High School I attended the Golf Academy of America in San Diego, Ca., and received my Associates of Arts Degree in Golf Course Management and Teaching. After a few years working at golf courses I decided to pursue a growing interest in design which brought me to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

I have loved every minute of learning all of the ins and outs of design which includes, web, print, motion graphics, photography, and digital audio to name a few. I am looking forward to my future career in web design and I hope you find this portfolio a good representation of my body of work.

Thanks for taking a look

    What:

Design the logo, packaging, posters, and web page mock-up for a fictitious micro-brewery in Northwest Washington. I wanted to give the feel of a true Pacific Northwest Brewery with using natural colors and type treatments that reflected that intention.

    Tools:
    • InDesign
    • Illustrator
    • Photoshop
    • Original Photography
    print design tag

  • CD's, headphones, and mailer package
  • All of the pieces together
  • Pantone ear buds and their case
  • Pantone CD's
  • Pantone magazine ad
  • Pantone poster staged
  • Pantone poster staged
  • What:

Using the Pantone brand as the catalyst for this re-branding campaign, I introduced the concept of bringing color and music together. By making direct mailers of colorful Pantone headphones along with a CD, posters, and a magazine ad, the idea was realized and successfully accomplished.

  • Maritime video

  • What:

This is a motion graphics piece I made using an original font I created as the subject matter. The font uses fish hooks as the main distinguishing element. I chose to highlight the inspiration of why I chose to make that particular font.

    Tools:
    • After Effects
    • Photoshop
    • Logic Pro
    motion tag

  • Fast moving type

  • What:

I wanted to make a dynamic and interesting short motion graphics spot highlighting movement with type. The subject matter is motivation to exercise, and I kept the piece simple, but to keep the viewers interest.

    • Photoshop
    • Logic Pro
    motion tag

  • San Diego Zoo

  • What:

This is a short piece I did in After Effects which uses separate layers to fake the movement of land, like you are riding in a car. I chose to use the San Diego Zoo because it is a zoo that actually has giraffes.

  • close up of bottle
  • close up of city in bottle
  • all put together
  • What:

By using a long-exposure photograph of the Seattle skyline, I wanted it to seem as if it was placed inside of a bottle to show the idea of a world within a world. I put the original skyline as the backdrop and made it look as if it is resting on a roof-top bar, giving a unique look at the beautiful skyline of Seattle.

  • left side of work
  • right side of the shot
  • close up of logo
  • Full size
  • What:

Illustrate the concept of Photosynth, which uses photographs taken by people to re-construct popular places and structures throughout the world. The goal was to use a single photograph of AT&T Park in San Francisco and use photoshop to illustrate this concept.

  • water droplet
  • ferry building
  • What:

I really like how reflections of things look in photography. This was at a fountain/sculpture across the street from the Ferry Building in San Francisco which gave off great reflections of the main structure of the Ferry Building. The water droplets and reflections of the structure made for an interesting addition to the concept.

  • What:

Here are some panorama photographs I have taken. The one on top is a panorama of 5 photographs taken from Cama Beach, Washington. The second one was taken at an opportune moment on the ferry coming back from Sausalito. The sun was breaking through the clouds, and struck Alcatraz island just perfectly.

  • Oh Yeah!

  • Uptempo slide

  • What:

Just some songs I made using Logic Pro and Adobe Soundbooth. I started with the basic beat, then gradually progressed instrument by instrument until the compilation was complete. I then took it into After Effects to add some visual appeal to go along with the music.
