The Timepiece Depot

A website inspired by the art of timekeeping

The Timepiece Depot

The Timepiece Depot: A website created for beautiful watches

This is a website I created with the inspiration of my love for watches in mind. I have been collecting wrist and pocket watches for the past 10 years or so and thought it would be a fun idea to display them in an online store setting. Utilizing the server side PHP and mySQL language of web design, this website was made to entice the viewer or customer to want to buy a watch. This also makes it very simple for business owners to modify content within the website through their very own, personalized administrator page where adding or deleting content is as simple as a couple clicks. Everything on the website is fully functional from being able to examine an item in depth, to leaving comments and adding a watch to your cart for checkout (although the watches aren't actually for sale). This website was featured in the 2012 Academy of Art University Spring Show.

Tsunami Sushi Restaurant

A website made and inspired by sushi and sake!

Tsunami Sushi Restaurant

Project Info

Tsunami Sushi Restaurant

I found my inspiration for this website in my intense love for sushi and sake. In learning the PHP language for class, one assignment was to create a website for a restaurant of our choosing. My choice wasn't difficult as I frequent this restaurant and thought it would be a great subject for the assignment. My goal was to keep with the upscale, decorative design which seems to prevail with sushi restaurants and Japanese culture in general, with the color palette and look and font of the header. As is the case with the Timepiece website, this site has a menu which is fully editable by accessing the Admin page by simply adding, deleting, or changing prices of menu items. I think that restaurant websites should be kept simple and easy to navigate which is why I used larger navigation and a simple layout with all of the pages living in the same content area. This website was featured in the 2012 Academy of Art University Spring Show.

Seattle Library Ipad App

An application made for mobile devices to help visitors explore one of the most fascinating buildings in Seattle

Seattle Public Library

Project Info

A mobile App for the Seattle Public Library

This is one of the most unique buildings and architectural feats I have ever seen. The Seattle Public Library has so many unique angles to the building both inside and out that I felt I had to take photographs from every angle possible of the buildings interior and exterior. Taking my best shots I created a layout which is representative of the buildings unique style and gave some information about the library and the architects who envisioned it. Originally I made this as a print piece, but then decided to fashion it for a tablet brochure since that is the progression that the world is taking.

CSS Zen Garden Redesign

My take on a re-design of the CSS Zen Garden website

Zen Garden Website

Project Info

CSS Zen Garden Website

The CSS Zen Garden website is basically a site which challenges whoever wants to to take all the content in the site and loy it out in any way that your imagination takes you using only CSS styling and leaving the HTML as is. I thought this would be a fun challenge so I set out with the concept of all of the information being hidden inside an ancient scroll. The site itself is a very simple simgle page, so by creating a page with a scroll which expands to display the content I thought would be an interesting spin on the single page layout. The background is a dark red with some texture on it to lend to the look and feel of mystery within the website.

AAU Sports program App

Academy of Art University Sports Program App

This is a mobile website I created for the Academy of Art University Sports program. Using Jquery Mobile as the html driven tool I felt that the sports program would benefit from people being able to find out about schedules, events, rosters and view a photo gallery on the go. I wanted to keep the look and feel of the Academy's colors and sports logo intact so that is what drives the design of the site. This project was featured in the 2012 Academy of Art University Spring Show.

Two Bridges Brewing Company

A website created for a project made for a fictitious, Pacific Northwest micro-brewery

Two Bridges Brewery

Project Info

Two Bridges Brewing Company

This is a website for a print project I created for a fictitious micro-brewery in Anacortes, Washington. I feel that the Pacific Northwest (being from there) is a beautiful place and is also known for producing many fine micro-breweries. I wanted to create this product with the concept of the picturesque landscape of the area in mind and also some of the man-made structures which enable people to travel over sea as there are many islands there. Two Bridges Brewery encompasses all of these features with its design and the website takes aims to exemplify these same principles.

Busting Vegas Website

This is a website made for the book, "Busting Vegas", to be a movie site if it were made into a movie. I made the website using Flash with various animations and an actual blackjack game. I used original photography for the content with me and a friend of mine as the characters of the Vegas highrollers. The color scheme and feel of the site are modeled to take on the style of the book, which is dark and mysterious so as to intrigue anyone who views the website.

Exercise = Happiness

A motion graphics short using After Effects to display text in motion while delivering a message

Moving Type

Project Info

Fast Moving Type

I created this motion graphics piece using After Effects with the idea being to create a short animation with solely type moving as the center piece. The story it tells is one which is supposed to motivate the viewer to want to exercise to get their endorphins flowing. That is why the music is very upbeat and the type moves quickly and dynamically through the scenes. I also wrote and created the music which accompanies this project.

Maritime: My Font Creation

A font I created for with inspiration from the sea

Maritime Font Creation

Project Info

Maritime: A font inspired by the sea

This is a motion graphics piece made using After Effects for a typeface I created while a student at the Academy of Art University. The inspiration behind the typeface is centered around my love for the ocean and the sea-going life of boating, fishing and just relaxing by the water. Hence, the typeface features fish styled hooks as the serifs and fishing line loops as well. I feel that the typeface exemplifies the font style that would be found on signage around boating harbors and stenciled on boats for their names. This motion graphics piece goes into the inspiration behind my typeface.

Pantone Project

This is a print project focused on color, and the brand of Pantone

Pantone project

Project Info

Pantone:
"Color is music for your eyes"

This project was created using Pantone as the subject in which I came up with a tag-line and used that as the driving force behind the campaign. I have been in to music for a very long time, and I thought that the line of "color is music for your eyes" could be a tag-line which would be fun and creative for this project. I created everything in this campaign including cd's, headphones with a case, posters, a magazine advertisement and a mailing container which transports the cd's and headphones. These were all printed out and displayed in such a way that made the products appealing.

Photosynth

Using original photography and photoshop I created this piece to show the concept of Microsoft's Photosynth

Photosynth

Project Info

Photosynth by Microsoft

I made this piece for a Digital Imaging class in which I used original photography of the San Francisco Giants stadium to piece together multiple images to display the concept of Photosynth. This is a program by Microsoft in which people all over the world can upload their own photographs of famous landmarks and it pieces them together to give the viewer an interactive view of the place. To attempt to show this in a single image was the difficult part of the project, but I feel I have done it nicely. Using me and my friend as the people in the image, we are throwing pictures onto the made up image to create the illusion that we are adding to the overall completion of it.

Seattle in a bottle

A digital imaging project using Photoshop to put a city in a bottle

Seattle in a bottle

Project Info

Seattle in a bottle

This is another digital imaging piece using my original photography and photoshop skills to make it appear as if the Seattle skyline is placed inside of this bottle. I used a single long-exposure photograph of the Seattle skyline as both the background and the image in the bottle. Then I added the bottles and bar that the bottle rests on to make it appear as if this is on a rooftop bar or balcony. The trick is to make it look as if the city belongs inside of the bottle and it doesn't look like there was Photoshop work done to it. By using numerous filters, masks, and color adjustments, I feel that I did this fairly well.
